Lady A om CMA
Lady Antebellum could win their fourth consecutive Vocal Group of the Year trophy at Thursday night's CMA Awards, and they stand among other groups such as Alabama and Rascal Flatts that have dominated that category over the years.
"A lot of those bands have paved the way for us, and so it's cool to see other bands like ourselves, Zac Brown and Band Perry kinda doing that," Lady A's Charles Kelley tells ABC News Radio. "I think people are really gravitating towards that harmony-driven type of music, which is great for us."
Little Big Town is also in the Vocal Group category with Lady Antebellum, and Charles recalls what a big impact their breakthrough hit had on him back in 2005. He says, "I remember 'Boondocks,' I was like, 'Man, that's just huge,' you know?" Charles' band mate Dave Haywood adds, "Those harmonies were incredible."
Lady Antebellum's latest album, Own the Night, is up for CMA Album of the Year too, and they've got nothing but great things say about their fellow nominees in that category -- Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church and Luke Bryan.
Speaking about the past year in country music, Lady A's Hillary Scott says, "This year has definitely felt just off the charts like, between Miranda's record, and there's so many. Eric Church."
Charles chimes in, "Eric's record is really special, and our buddy Luke."
Lady Antebellum has a performance slot on the 46th Annual CMA Awards airing live on ABC Thursday night at 8 ET.
